Yesterday in Parliament, Therese Coffey met with representatives from Network Rail to continue to press them to install a level crossing at Melton.
Therese said "It is imperative that barriers are installed at Melton as there have been many occasions when cars will go across when the lights are flashing because they think they have enough time. Network Rail have agreed and have promised to install the crossing by 2013 and are looking at the possibility of bringing this forward".
Local Councillor, Michael Bond said "this is fantastic news and long overdue. The accident at Woodbridge recently proves that crossings without barriers are dangerous and the crossing at Melton is much busier."
