Yesterday in Parliament, Suffolk MP's, Therese Coffey, Matthew Hancock and Ben Gummer met with the out of hours GPservice, Harmoni to discuss their proposed changes.
On 1st February 2012, Harmoni is proposing a trial to make some changes to the locations of its primary care centre bases. Currently, there are ten base locations across the county, and under the new service model there will be eight. The centres in Aldeburgh, Newmarket and Wickham Market will close and, under the proposed model, there will be a new centre in Saxmundham.
Therese Coffey said "It was a useful meeting. While I understand the residents of Aldeburgh will be concerned I understand the rationale for the changes, for the bases to be closer to the A12."
She added "I know the County Health Scrutiny Committee have asked for a review of the changes and Suffolk Members of Parliament have also asked to be updated. I will be looking closely at the result of the review including the customer satisfaction surveys and I am keen to hear about residents experiences."
"I have asked for signage to the new surgery in Saxmundham to be made as clear as possible as it can be difficult to find".
