Oral Answers to Questions — Health: Health and Social Care Bill (21 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: May I pass on the representation of a health care professional in my constituency-one of the general practitioners involved in the commissioning group-who said that he felt the Health and Social Care Bill had been written for GPs, and that it was perfect for improving care in our community?
[Mr Graham Brady in the Chair] — Rural Bank Closures (21 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: I just want to highlight what has happened in Aldeburgh, where HSBC pulled out-its only communication with the wider community was a poster in the window. Retailers responded by offering cashback. Does my hon. Friend agree that the subject in question is a very suitable one for the Office of Fair Trading to look into? After its study of oil supplies it is examining other issues...
Future of Biomass (20 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: The hon. Gentleman is making an eloquent contribution. Another unintended consequence could involve the cost of crops. Biofuels have already been mentioned, but my farmers are also concerned about straw and about raising costs when they could be subsidising a biomass plant.
Written Answers — Treasury: National Insurance Contributions: Young People (20 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much employers' national insurance was received for employees who were 18 years or under in (a) 2009-10 and (b) 2010-11.
[Sir Roger Gale in the Chair] (9 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: The Minister will have plenty of volunteers to help.
[Sir Roger Gale in the Chair] (9 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: That might well be true, but I do not pretend to speak on behalf of Schalke. There are, however, some interesting, tidying things to be done, which financial fair play needs to take account of. The involvement of supporters was part of the coalition agreement. Before the previous election, the three main political parties each had an element on how to get supporters more involved. Supporters...
[Sir Roger Gale in the Chair] (9 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: It is a pleasure to serve under your chairmanship, Sir Roger, and that of Mr Havard, the previous Chair, who probably prefers the oval ball, but accepts that the round ball game-the beautiful game-touches all four nations of the United Kingdom. I am delighted that three of those nations were represented in the debate at some point. I thank other Committee members. For a football...
[Sir Roger Gale in the Chair] (9 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: Of course, one of the new independent directors is a woman, which was a little bit of a surprise, but I was delighted that a lady with a pedigree at Millwall is already making a contribution at the highest level of the game. Kelly Simmons is in charge of the national game and does a great job working with communities. A lot has been said about the ownership of football clubs and financial...
Oral Answers to Questions — Culture, Media and Sport: Topical Questions (9 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: I declare that I am a parliamentary fellow to the Football Association. Does the Minister agree with the leadership of David Bernstein in recent days on matters of judgment, and will he condemn Fabio Capello’s decision to walk out on the England team with only a few months to go until Euro 2012?
Rural Schools — [Mr Mike Weir in the Chair] (8 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: It is a great pleasure to serve under your chairmanship, Mr Weir. I congratulate the hon. Member for Copeland (Mr Reed) on securing this debate on the future of rural schools. I represent a constituency in Suffolk, and when I moved to the constituency, I was impressed to discover how many small rural schools were able to survive. In my patch, I have seven schools with a roll of fewer than...
Written Answers — Cabinet Office: Employment (8 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office (1) how many pensioners were employed in (a) 2009-10 and (b) 2010-11; (2) how many people aged 18 or under were employed in (a) 2009-10 and (b) 2010-11.
Written Answers — Business, Innovation and Skills: Students: Finance (8 Feb 2012)
Therese Coffey: To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills what recent discussions he has had with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council on future funding of post-graduate research fellowships.
